Starlight Networks Follows Cisco's Lead In Providing Quality Video Internetworking

March 1, 1995, Mountain View, Calif -- Starlight Networks announced today that it intends to integrate its proven LAN multimedia networking solutions with routed networks by supporting IP and IP Multicast and Bandwidth Reservation via the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP).

"Starlight Networks IP support is only the first step," said Jim Long, president of Starlight Networks, "because a quality video internetworking solution also requires new router management techniques. We look forward to working with Cisco to ensure today's internetworking solutions can handle the different Quality of Service requirements of both stored and live video applications."

Starlight Networks' customers have used Cisco Catalyst and Kalpana EtherSwitch switched Ethernet LAN hub product lines to support their networked video requirements during the last several years. These solutions have been very successful in supporting state-of-the-art LAN-based video-on-demand applications for training and multimedia information systems.

Starlight Networks is located at 205 Ravendale Drive, Mountain View, CA 94043; phone 415/967-2774
